Due to the pressure brought by Pennsylvania Gun Rights members, we were able to flip the table in the State House from just two years ago on gun control!
In 2023 – we saw three gun control bills pass the State House with Republican support.
Two Republicans supported “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation in 2023, three Republicans supported a “Ghost Gun” Ban in 2023, and nine Republicans supported Universal Gun Registration in 2023.
In 2025 – we flipped the numbers in a big way.
After months of hearing from PAGR members, liberal House Speaker Joanna McClinton and House Majority Leader Matt Bradford suffered embarrassing defeats on the House floor.
- “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation got ZERO Republican support and failed when 1 Democrat crossed party lines to kill it. We gained back 2 votes!
- The “Ghost Gun” Ban got ZERO Republican support and failed when 1 Democrat crossed party lines to kill it. We gained back 3 votes!
- A “machinegun conversion device” ban (which would’ve banned semiautomatic accessories and firearms) got ZERO Republican support and failed when 1 Democrat crossed party lines to kill it.
These defeats in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives are turning heads because “Red” states like Florida and Indiana have seen a few “Republicans” link arms with Democrats to pass “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation.
Even Alabama just passed the “Glock Switch” ban targeting trigger upgrades, leaving law-abiding gun owners on their own to explain what a binary trigger or forced reset trigger is to a police officer, an anti-gun judge, or a George Soros-backed District Attorney.
The fact that we defeated these bills in Pennsylvania just goes to show it was YOUR activism that made the difference!
But, it wasn’t all good news.
Despite the victories and flipping several Republicans who previously voted for Universal Gun Registration, it still passed when 5 Republicans cast their votes for it. One changed her vote afterwards due to an alleged error with remote voting, but that margin still underscores just how close this was.
However, despite these 5 Republicans casting their votes to pass this bill – we’ve still made progress by gaining back 4 votes from 2023 when 9 Republicans voted to pass Universial Gun Registration.
That bill now heads to the Republican-controlled State Senate, where PAGR has been told it will not be taken up.
But we cannot let up even for a moment, because if this bill gains traction there, our rights are in real danger.
That’s on top of the Gun Control Lobby’s Crown Jewel, the “Assault Weapons” Ban, rapidly gaining steam as sponsorship memos are being passed around to whip up support for it in the House.
Now is the time to double down to make sure BOTH the “Assault Weapons” Ban and the backdoor Universal Gun Registration are never brought up for a vote.
Recent events have proven what can happen when pro-gun Pennsylvanians band together and put the spotlight on gun control votes – even with just a few days’ notice.
But your elected politicians need to hear from you.
Just as recent as last year, your petitions to Harrisburg prevented them from sending “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation, Universal Gun Registration, and a “Ghost Gun” Ban to Governor Shapiro’s desk.
It’s time to do that again.
If $100 is simply too much, could you chip in $50, $25, or even just $10 to help cover the costs to travel, lobby, deliver petitions, and run hard-hitting pro-gun messaging in targeted districts?
Every dollar helps us keep up the pressure on legislators to hold the line against the evils of gun control and together we can make sure the Second Amendment stays protected.
