Constitutional Carry: The Fight to Restore Your Second Amendment Rights

Over the past few weeks, our Executive Director, Craig Storrs, has been hitting the Capitol to fight for your Second Amendment rights. With some big legislation on the way, Craig’s been meeting with lawmakers to make sure they understand just how important this is. The hot topic? The introduction of Constitutional Carry bills in both the House and the Senate.

What is Constitutional Carry?

Representative Aaron Bernstine is getting ready to introduce Constitutional Carry in the House and Senator Cris Dush is set to do the same in the Senate. These bills aim to make sure that if you can legally own a firearm, you can carry it without jumping through extra hoops – like paying for permits that feel like buying back your Second Amendment rights. Currently, gun owners face a maximum penalty of seven (7) years in prison and a $15,000 fine if convicted of carrying a firearm without a license.

PAGR On The Ground

Craig’s been talking to every Representative and Senator in Harrisburg, driving home the message that Constitutional Carry is common sense. If you’re allowed to own a gun, you should be allowed to carry it without unnecessary red tape. The Second Amendment is a right, plain and simple – not a privilege that comes with extra fees or paperwork.

Why Pushing for a Vote is a Win-Win

Bringing Constitutional Carry to a vote in the House and Senate isn’t just about advancing the legislation – it’s also a strategic move. If the bills pass, we will take a huge step forward in protecting Second Amendment rights. But even if they don’t pass this time, pushing for a vote puts Governor Josh Shapiro in a tough spot. He’ll have to choose between supporting legislation that aligns with the rights of law-abiding citizens or alienating pro-Second Amendment voters. Either way, it forces a critical conversation and puts the focus on where lawmakers and leaders truly stand on Constitutional Carry.

What’s Next?

As we gear up for the 2025-2026 legislative session, it’s crucial for House and Senate leadership to put Constitutional Carry on their priority list. Getting these bills introduced is just the start. We need to make sure they actually move forward and get votes.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the process and keeping you in the loop. This is a team effort, and we need everyone who supports the Second Amendment to stay engaged and speak up. Together, we can make this happen.
