They’re picking up where they left off…
Anti-gun Democrats in Pennsylvania are aiming to pick up where they left off last session and are preparing to push egregious assaults on the Second Amendment like “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation, Universal Gun Registration, a full-blown California-style “Assault Weapons” Ban, and everything in between!
It is clear, despite resounding losses over the last legislative session, Democrats are doubling down on their radical anti-gun agenda in Harrisburg.
The Renewed Push for Gun Control in 2025
Despite deploying every legislative trick in the book last session, anti-gun politicians failed to advance a single gun control bill to Governor Shapiro’s desk for signature. In response, they have announced their intentions to double down on a multitude of gun control proposals.
These proposals include:
- Red Flag Gun Confiscation: Allowing authorities to seize firearms without due process.
- Universal Gun Registration: Tracking every gun owner and creating a potential path to confiscation.
- Assault Weapons Ban: Targeting popular firearms like the AR-15 and potentially banning most semi-automatic firearms.
- Additional Restrictions: Including bans on “ghost” gun parts, 3D-printed firearms, and imposing waiting periods for gun purchases.
If these proposals make it to Governor Josh Shapiro’s desk for signature, Pennsylvania could become the next gun rights wasteland like New York or New Jersey.
Why Immediate Action Is Crucial
Whenever the General Assembly meets, your Second Amendment rights are at risk. Even with a slight Republican majority in the State Senate, Second Amendment protections are never guaranteed.
That’s why Pennsylvania Gun Rights (PAGR) needs your help to fight these threats to our Second Amendment rights. PAGR is preparing battle-tested strategies to combat the gun control initiatives pushed by the Democrats in the General Assembly.
These strategies include:
- Holding meetings with legislators and staff to inform them that you, their constituents, are watching.
- Making it clear that compromising on the Second Amendment will result in a high political price.
- Going on offense to advance pro-gun legislation, like Constitutional Carry.
Going on the Offensive: The Case for Constitutional Carry
We have already obtained commitments from sponsors in the House and Senate to introduce Constitutional Carry this year, and we will demand a vote on it in both chambers.
Constitutional Carry is a simple concept: law-abiding citizens do not need government permission to carry a firearm in defense of themselves, openly or concealed. By blocking this fundamental right, Pennsylvania lags behind 29 other states—more than half the country! Even a liberal northeastern state like Vermont has long recognized Constitutional Carry.
If you are legally allowed to possess a firearm, you should be able to carry that firearm to protect yourself and your loved ones—openly or concealed, without government permission. That’s why Constitutional Carry is such a crucial program on top of our other critical programs.
